Tequila is the first indigenous spirits distilled in North America.
According to Mexican law only the blue agave spirit bottled in the Tequila Region of Mexico can be labeled as tequila.
Premium Tequila is derived from agave plants grown seven to ten years.
Tequila is bottled in one of four categories: blanco (white) or silver; reposado (rested); añejo (aged); and extra añejo (extra aged).
During the aging process, Tequila will change color. Some companies opt to add caramel for a darker color. However, the color in premium Tequila comes naturally with the aging process.
