Tequila Partida Celebrates the 200th Anniversary of Mexican Independence with Fiestas for Fans
(April 5, 2010), SAN FRANCISCO, CA — In celebration of the 200th anniversary of Mexican Independence Day, Tequila Partida is hosting a contest for fans to attend an authentic Mexican fiesta. Starting in April and lasting through August, two Partida fans will be chosen each month in five major cities − New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami and Dallas − to attend this year's lively holiday celebration at select restaurant locations on September 15, 2010.
Tequila Partida, an authentic, estate-grown, premium Tequila, is made from 100% blue agave in the heart of Mexico's historic Tequila Valley region. Paying tribute to its origins, Tequila Partida is extending the celebration of this year's 200th anniversary to fans across the United States. By sending an email to fiesta@partidatequila.com, Tequila Partida fans automatically enter to win a chance to attend the Mexican Independence Day party in his/her local city. The randomly picked winners will receive two passes (the winner plus a guest) to the fiesta, complete with complimentary cocktails and traditional plates. Guests will celebrate the history and traditions of Mexico while enjoying cuisine paired with Mexico's favorite spirit. From New York to San Francisco, Tequila Partida fans can embrace the true Mexican spirit and enjoy the holiday as people do throughout Mexico on September 15th.
The Fiestas de la Independencia in Mexico is a day for celebration, filled with singing, yelling, laughing, and making noise with loved ones. A real Fiesta de la Independencia is a sample of the collage of traditions and elements that compose the Mexican culture: the value of family and friendship; happiness that reaches new heights; the noise without which a Fiesta de la Independencia wouldn't exist; sharing; an enormous variety of food and games; and the symbols that make Mexico such a unique place.
The Mexican War of Independence started in hopes of liberation from the Spanish Crown and for the creation of a new country. During the early years of the 19th century, the criollos (people born from Spanish parents in Mexican territories of Spanish parents) sought out more opportunities in government and the modification of laws and regulations regarding the property rights on the land. On September 16th, 1810 Catholic priest Father Miguel Hidalgo began a movement called the Grito de Dolores, signaling the start of the Mexican Independence War. Eleven years later, in September of 1821, the Mexican Empire (Imperio Mexicano) was born.
