Partida Mixes it Up in the Big Easy at the 5th Annual Tales of the Cocktail Convention

Partida had an overwhelmingly strong presence at this year's Tales of the Cocktail, an annual festival held each July in New Orleans at the Hotel Monteleone, that has become America’s premier cocktail event. Tales of the Cocktail brings top industry professionals including mixologists, authors, chefs and drink designers together for several days of demos, tastings, seminars, mixing competitions, dinner-pairings and more.
Partida 100% Organic Agave Nectar was used in Rhum Clement's "Save the Daiquiri" Party on July 17th. People flocked to a late-night suite on Thursday and Friday to chat with Jacques Bezuidenhout, lead Partida Bartender Ambassador while enjoying Partida Margaritas and other specialty cocktails.
On Friday, the Partida Tasting Room was filled to capacity with enthusiastic attendees enjoying Partida Margaritas, tasting the marques neat and getting to know Gary Shansby, Founder and Chairman, and Jacques one-on-one. Gary was also an impressive interview subject for Natalie Bovis-Nelson in Episode 5 of the Liquid Muse Daily Recap Webisodes.
Paul Clarke's "Making Your Own Cocktail Ingredients" seminar on Saturday included strawberries infused in Partida Reposado. On Sunday, Jacques and Robert Hess educated the serious die-hards who still hadn’t gotten their fill of cocktails with "The History of The Margarita" seminar.
Tales of the Cocktail was a wonderful sampling opportunity for Partida, serving both to reinforce the brand within the trade community and to introduce it to consumers and influencers, who had not previously had the opportunity to taste Partida. Partida Elegante Extra Añejo was sampled for some very influential bartenders including Salvatore Calabrese and Peter Dorelli (former head bartender at Savoy Hotel in London), as well as many others who were in attendance.
Partida even had the opportunity to reach out post-event to show their thanks and appreciation to those hard-working individuals who gave their time to support the Partida brand through the cocktail apprentice program.
Partida is already planning their involvement for next year’s Tales of the Cocktail.
Editor's Note:
We at Partida wish our friends in New Orleans a safe return to the city after Hurricane Gustav.

In honor of this summer’s Olympic games, officially known as the Games of the XXIX Olympiad held in Beijing, mixologist Dalio Calado created an Asian inspired cocktail, the Oriental Mandarin.
Oriental Mandarin
1 hand squeezed tangerine
1 oz Grand Marnier
1 oz Partida Blanco Tequila
2 oz ginger ale
Squeeze the tangerine into a shaker filled with ice.
Add Grand Marnier and Partida Blanco.
Shake well, top with ginger ale while still in the shaker.
Pour into rocks or highball glass and garnish with a tangerine wheel.
Spring Fever

Though the title suggests springtime, this cocktail makes the perfect summer refreshment. Inspired by farmers market’s fresh ingredients, ‘Spring Fever’ was created by Victoria D'amato-Moran, a bartender at Monaghan’s Sports Bar in San Francisco.
1.5 oz Partida Reposado Tequila
2 oz roasted jalapeño agave syrup
1 oz Rhubarb juice
Grilled lemon squeeze
2 oz strawberry juice
In a mixing tin, bruise 2 leafy sprigs of cilantro, just enough to release the aroma.
Shake and strain over cracked ice.
Garnished with a strawberry and mint leaves.

"If you are a tequila lover like myself, then it is only natural for you to try to convert every person that you come across into someone who appreciates the nuances and characteristics of ultra-premium tequilas.
One of the simplest ways to convert non-tequila drinkers to tequila is through the introduction of the idea that tequila – premium tequila – is not just something used for shots at rowdy parties but rather something to savor like other fine aged spirits. This simple explanation will eliminate the common misconception and association with frat parties and spring break. You will then be free to re-introduce the consumer to the concept that tequila as an organic and natural product. Tequila can also be savored with a fine meal like the finest wines of the world. By using all of the 5 senses, you can guide them to not only see the qualities of a great tequila, but also to appreciate get the sensation of touch and taste.
Next time you are having a discussion about tequila, you should be able to change a few minds!"
—Jeret Pena, Partida Texas Bartender Ambassador
