Partida Partners With RNDC

In March, Partida Tequila announced an exciting new partnership with Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC) in Texas. From March 23rd through April 3rd, Partida held kick-off meetings with the RNDC sales forces in San Antonio, Houston and Dallas. Partida Founder, Chairman and CEO Gary Shansby gave a rousing presentation introducing the brand and history of Partida. Director of Sales Rick Scully, Director of Brand Development Dave Singh and Texas Regional Manager Charlie Garza all received big rounds of applause for their presentations of the top-of-the-line selling tools and the creative marketing programs Partida has to offer.

After each meeting, two of the marketing programs were demonstrated to the groups of excited sales representatives. Bartender Ambassador Jeret Pena led "Margarita Tech" sessions, where everyone had a hands-on lesson on how to make the Partida Margarita. Each participant took turns squeezing fresh lime juice, measuring out the ingredients and ‘shaking’ their very own Partida Margarita. A "Tequila Challenge" booth was set up for guests to do blind tastings of Partida Tequila and other premium tequila brands. The comment heard the most was how much smoother Partida Tequila was versus other brands.

"RNDC has really embraced Partida, and our whole team is thrilled to be partnering with this first-class organization in the country's second largest tequila market," said Mr. Shansby.

Sly has over 12 years of experience in the Food, Beverage, and Restaurant Industry. Her responsibilities at RNDC include beverage menu, client development, mixology and beverage training. Prior to joining RNDC in 2008, Sly spent eight years with Blue Mesa Grill where she developed one of the most successful restaurant beverage programs in the country. This is where her love for Partida Tequila started. Her favorite Partida Cocktail is the Pineapple & Jalapeño Margarita because "some like it hot!"


Pineapple & Jalapeño Margarita
2oz Partida Reposado Tequila
1.5oz Partida 100% Organic Agave Nectar
1.5oz water
1oz fresh lime juice
2 pcs pineapple 1" x 1"
2 julienne slivers of jalapeño (5 seeds – remove the rest)

Place pineapple and jalapeño into mixing glass and muddle. Add ice, Partida Tequila, Partida Agave Nectar, lime juice, water and shake well. Strain over fresh ice.

Bill Norris, Bar Manager, FINO Restaurant Patio and Bar
Bill Norris has poured drinks in venues in London, New York and Austin. At FINO, Bill focuses on a mix of classic cocktails and carefully crafted original recipes, relying on the best spirits, freshest juices and homemade mixers. Bill is the 2008 Texas Regional Champion in the Cocktail World Cup. Outside FINO, he is a freelance writer and photographer who has published works in national magazines and is the author of Snapshots, a novel published in 2001.

The Paloma Flower
1.5oz Partida Reposado Tequila
1oz St. Germain elderflower liqueur
1oz fresh ruby red grapefruit juice
3 dashes grapefruit bitters
1 egg white

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake vigorously. Strain into chilled cocktail glass or coupe. Bills uses homemade grapefruit bitters, but the Fee Bros Bitters will work as well.

Anvil is a new Cocktail Bar & Refuge in Houston that is owned and operated by some of the city's best mixologists. They only use the best quality spirits and ingredients. Build cocktail directly in cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange twist.

The Peartida
2oz Partida Añejo Tequila
1/2oz Partida 100% Organic Agave Nectar
1/2oz lime juice
1/4 Bartlett Pear
6 large sweet basil leaves
2 sprigs of fresh savory herbs

Place basil, savory herbs and pear into a mixing glass and muddle. Add ice, Partida Tequila, Partida Agave Nectar and lime juice and shake 8-10 times. Strain into chilled cocktail glass and garnish with basil leaf.

OC Metro Announces Partida Pairing Dinner

The Sporting Life at the Barkeeper, Los Angeles

On March 22nd, LA’s finest cocktail lovers gathered at Barkeeper for the One Year Anniversary of the Sporting Life. Beginning in March 2008 and every month since, Marcos Tello has organized this group of mixologists, bartenders, cocktail bloggers and enthusiastic amateurs for a day of food, beverage, lessons in mixology techniques and historic anecdotes. The event was attended by notables such as Leo Rivas from Seven Grand , Vincenzo Manianella from Copa D'oro , Christine D'Abrosca from Malo , Joseph Ehrmann from Elixir in San Francisco and Partida Southern California Brand Ambassador Damian Windsor.

Partida Tequila Night at Louis 649: Tradition, Education and Did We Mention Fun?

In March, New York Regional Manager Antonia Fattizzi hosted a Tequila Tasting and Margarita Tech evening at Louis 649 with Partida Brand Ambassadors Jacques Bezuidenhout and Willy Shine. The theme: education; the reality: lots of fun with Partida. Antonia kicked it off with a historical background of Tequila and Partida. Jacques and Willy revved up the evening by leading a Margarita Tech session. Guests were invited to join Willy, Jacques and Antonia for a hands-on demonstration on making the Partida Margaritas afterward. A great time was had by all and each participant learned a vast amount about the tradition and fun that separates Partida Tequila from the rest.



FOAM Tequila Tasting, Napa

Partida National Brand Ambassador Jacques Bezuidenhout visited Napa, California to lead a Tequila seminar for the Friends of Ardent Mixology (FOAM). FOAM was started by Judd Finkelstein, who is the winemaker for his family’s vineyard, Judd's Hill. Many of the members are in the wine industry or professional chefs and are all cocktail lovers. Once a month, they gather to learn and sample different spirits and cocktails. About 25 of the members of FOAM attended this seminar and they were all eager to learn more about the wonderful world of premium Partida Tequila. "It was amazing to see that this kind of passion for crafted cocktails and spirits is spreading outside of the bartending community. We need more passionate people like them," said Jacques.



The Village Voice Choice Eats, New York

On March 31st, Partida Tequila participated in The Village Voice’s 2nd Annual Choice Eats event sponsored by Southern Wine & Spirits. More than 60 of New York City’s "best-kept secret" restaurants treated over 200 guests to foods from all around the world. Partida Tequila Regional Manager Antonia Fattizzi and Partida Brand Ambassador Willy Shine introduced guests to "The World’s Top-Rated Tequila" and the World’s Best Margarita.

Wolfram Ortner, founder of the World Spirits Awards in Europe and brandy distiller, visited the Partida distillery to learn about North America’s first distillate, and tasted "The World’s Top-Rated Tequila" for the very first time. José Valdez, Partida Tequila’s Fabrica Manager, walked Mr. Ortner through a relaxed tour of the Partida making process. It was a learning experience for both parties as Mr. Ortner also shared his passion for the world’s finest spirits.

How about a little Fluff?

"Foams are becoming a big trend in cocktails nowadays and thankfully they are pretty easy to make. Foams can range from a nutmeg non-alcoholic foam for coffee to an exotic foam that is 20% ABV. No matter the type, foams are a great addition to any cocktail. First, you have to pull a flavor out of the drink and make a foam out of it. A perfect example is the Partida Margarita using 100% blue agave tequila, fresh lime juice, agave nectar recipe adding an orange curacao foam. I like to use Grand Marnier, with natural sugar and a powerful orange flavor that will stand up to the mixture. Here is a basic formula for making a this type of foam:

4 oz pasteurized egg whites
1 oz simple syrup
1 table spoon of powered sugar
0.5 oz fresh lemon juice
1.5 oz Grand Mariner

Mix everything together and put them in an ISI whip cream dispenser and charge with No.2 gas. There are various ways to do this, but the important thing is that you need some kind of emulsifier (egg white, gelatin or lecithin), a stabilizer (sugar) PH or citrus (lime or lemon juice) and a flavor. Whatever you do, remember that it will end up losing its fluff so be sure to let the cocktail sit for a few minutes. Drink it slowly to see how it looks after being handled and drank. Now go and see what foam can do for your cocktails."
