Tequila Knowledge in Las Vegas


Partida Tequila sponsored the first-ever Tequila Immersion Day at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas on Tuesday, October 8th. This was a joint program organized and led by B.A.R. (Beverage Alcohol Resource), the leading spirits and mixology program in the country in partnership with Partida.

The main speakers during the seminar were Steve Olson, Paul Pacult and David Wondrich, all leading experts in the spirits industry. Forty of the top bartenders and bar managers from around the country were invited to the affair and were “immersed” in a one-day crash course about tequila. The presenters discussed the history of tequila, the ingredients and process of the production and the versatility of tequila in cocktails. Throughout the day, attendees participated in a blind tasting of more than a dozen brands and 32 different types of tequila. Partida Tequila was the clear favorite, and everyone raved about Partida Elegante extra añejo.

Partida Bartender Ambassadors Coming to a City Near You



Adam Seger, Beverage Specialist and General Manager at Nacional 27 in Chicago has placed an all natural twist on the already organic Partida Margarita. This fun, healthy, new cocktail recipe will surely have you talking not only about the natural approach, but the name as well.

1 ½ oz. Partida Tequila Reposado
½ oz. Sambazon pure organic Acai
¾ oz Partida organic agave nectar
4” sprig Rosemary, top inch reserved for garnish
½ oz. organic egg white
1 lime, fresh squeezed

Rim:

Equal parts organic salt with 50 trace minerals and fresh cracked organic green peppercorns

Preparation:

Remove Rosemary leaves from the woody stem
Muddle in a 16 oz. pint glass until aromatic.
Add liquid ingredients
Rim a chilled 10 oz. cocktail glass with salt and pepper
Shake liquid ingredients vigorously until metal shaker is frosted
Strain into chilled, rimmed glass and float a 1” Rosemary sprig on top

New York Addition to the Partida Team

On Monday, November 19th, Partida Tequila welcomed Ashley Mayhew as our newest regional manager based in New York City with primary focus on the New York on-premise market.

Before joining Partida, Mayhew worked for Constellation Brands as the district manager for the Metro New York area, where she oversaw all sales, marketing and brand development for the imported beer portfolio. Prior to Constellation, Mayhew managed the on-premise accounts for Pernod Ricard U.S.A.’s spirit selection in Georgia. Mayhew started her career in the spirits industry at Remy Cointreau.

“I’m excited to work with a luxury tequila and one of the fastest growing in the U.S. To be part of the development and to watch real quality take off is a great privilege,” said Mayhew enthusiastically.

“Ashley brings significant experience in the on-premise channel, has solid relationships in the market with key accounts, and has familiarity and passion for super-premium, high-quality spirits,” said Mike Jaeger of Partida Tequila.

A graduate of North Carolina University, Mayhew enjoys playing tennis, running, traveling, attending Broadway shows, and also loves music.

Partida Tequila living La Dolce Vita



On Thursday, November 1st, Partida Tequila Bartender Ambassadors Willie Shine and Aisha Sharpe represented Partida Tequila at a fundraising event for The Sarah Ferguson Foundation hosted by La Dolce Vita in New York City. Legendary singer Aretha Franklin performed to a crowd of 500 NYC movers and shakers while Shine and Sharpe mixed Partida Margaritas with 100% organic agave nectar and Partida Palomas.





Ortanique on Miracle Mile Serves Partida

Partida Tequila sponsored an after work happy hour at Ortanique located at 278 Miracle Mile in Coral Gables, FL on November 8th. Guests enjoyed a special ceviche by Ortanique Cuisine of the Sun chef Eric Scott; Partida Margaritas made with 100% organic agave and the Añejo Kiss by Partida Tequila’s Bartender Ambassador, Marita Leonard and Andre Cassagne both of Ortanique Cuisine. Thomas Smitherman, Partida Tequila, Southeast Regional Manager was also available to answer questions from curious and interested consumers.

Partida Tequila Shrimp Ceviche with Agave Nectar
½ lb. (13-15) Shrimp
1 white onion
½ stalk celery
2 medium carrots
5 each vine ripened tomatoes
1 cup Partida Tequila
1 tsp chipolte pepper
1bunch cilantro (finely chopped)
1 cup agave nectar
6 cloves garlic
3 whole shallots
1 tblsp. Ketchup
½ cup lime juice
½ cup orange juice

Preparation:
Cut and roast onion, celery, carrots, tomatoes, garlic and shallots
Remove and blend in blender with Partida Tequila, ketchup chipolte
Let chill, par boil the shrimp in water seasoned with sea salt until about half cooked; chill
Combine all ingredients
Season to taste






The Añejo Kiss was created by Marita Leonard and Andre Cassagne both of Ortanique Cuisine of the Sun in Coral Gables, FL.


Añejo Kiss
1 ½ oz. Partida Añejo
1 oz. Amarula
½ oz. Crème de cacao (white)

Mix and serve






Partida Does Big Smoke, Vegas Style



During the weekend of November 10th, Partida Tequila was a featured sponsor of the Cigar Aficionado’s ‘Big Smoke’ in Las Vegas, NV, which was attended by 3,000 people. Tim Dinan, Partida Tequila Southern California Regional Manager and Jacques Bezuidenhout, Partida Bartender Ambassador, were on hand serving to a receptive crowd.

“It was very evident that Partida was the favorite spirit of the event because our table was mobbed. Of the 3,000 people attending, I believe we sampled 80% of them with 100% satisfaction. Many people came back for a second taste, often bringing someone back with them to show what they had discovered. The positive effects will be felt in many Partida markets due to the number of people traveling from all over the country. I guarantee that we got over 1,000 new Partida Tequila fans!”

Partida Goes Down Smoothly at Big Smoke, NYC



Partida was an exhibitor at this year’s Big Smoke at the Marriott Marquis, held on November 20th in New York, attended by 4,000 people.

“Samples were poured as fast and for as many people as we could and we passed out four boxes of Partida literature,” said Partida Tequila Bartender Ambassador Aisha Sharpe. “Everyone who tried Partida loved it! Guests came back for seconds and even thirds. In fact, there was another tequila brand pouring at the Big Smoke and those who had a chance to try both said, ‘Partida was 100 times better’.”

Some of the comments we heard were:

“I can’t believe this is tequila!”

“This is the smoothest tequila I’ve ever had!”

“I am a believer now.”

“You have to try this, this is the best tequila.”

“Please tell me where I can buy this.”

“Please, can I buy a bottle from you now?”


Round Two: Dinner and Partida Tequila

Due to the immense success of the first event, Partida Tequila was again featured at Ortanique on the Mile on November 28, 2007. Partida Tequila cocktails made by Partida Bartender Ambassador, Marita Leonard, and were paired with cuisine by Cindy Houston of the Sun from 6-8 p.m.



Partida Featured in Orlando Magic Arena

Amway Arena, home of the Orlando Magic basketball team, will serve as the residence of the Partida ‘Rita cocktail for the next two years. Jason Shapiro, FSM, and John Sylvain, GM of Premier Beverage in Florida had 16 Partida cocktail menu boards added to the Amway Arena. During the initial two weeks, 10 cases of Partida were sold. The Partida ‘Rita is one of six specialty drinks promoted by the arena. Partida is the only super premium tequila available for sale at the arena. “This was a tremendous execution by Jason Shapiro, John Sylvain and his Orlando team,” said Mark Pruckner, Southeast Regional Manager, Charmer Sunbelt Group in Florida.

Newly hired Partida Bartender Ambassador Alex Fowler has sold in all three Partida Tequila marques and the Partida Margarita with 100% organic agave nectar at Moonshine located in Chicago, IL. According to Fowler, “Partida is selling well!”

Jacksonville Jaguars Stadium Has New Tenant



As of last month, Partida Tequila and the Partida Margarita with 100% organic agave nectar signs could be seen on the main and upper concourses of Jacksonville Municipal Stadium, home of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Football and Partida Margaritas - A Great Combination!

Houston Account Popularizing the Partida Margarita



Mely’s, a Partida Tequila account located in Houston, TX, is promoting the Partida Margarita with 100% organic agave nectar through the end of the year as the ‘featured’ cocktail.

Mely’s has taken promoting the Partida Margarita to another level from placement on permanent menus and table tents located on every table to a 10 case commitment through December. They even provide their waiters and waitresses a scrolling name tag with letters: Partida Margarita with agave nectar.






BevMo Partida Signing in California



Valerie Villalta, Northern California Regional Manager, arranged a series of pre-holiday bottle signing promotions in Northern and Southern, CA with BevMo, one of California’s largest wine and spirits retailers. Sofia Partida was on hand answering questions about the brand and signing Partida Tequila bottles.

Partida Tequila: Not What You Remember From Your College Days

Tequila is one of the most versatile spirits with a fascinating history and heritage but many people only know tequila as a cheap alcohol consumed at rowdy bars.

Partida’s Tequila Confessions videos (www.tequilaconfessions.com) are a fun and innovative way to confront those negative stereotypes. The Tequila Confessions team intercepts random people on the street and asks them to share their experiences with tequila. They are then introduced to “the true spirit of tequila” by sampling a taste of premium Partida Tequila. Local bartenders are also asked to share their “confessions.”

The concept started on the streets of New York City. After great success working with Agave Restaurant, Dos Caminos and Johnny Utah’s, ‘Tequila Confessions’ has expanded to the Jacksonville Jaguars football stadium in Florida. Look for the Tequila Confessions Team, coming to a city near you.



Game Day Tailgate Party Confessions to Partida Tequila

Partida Tequila Southeast Regional Manager Thomas Smitherman has taken the Tequila Confessions to whole new level with the overwhelming success in Florida at the November 8th Jacksonville Jaguars Partida Margarita tailgating party promotion. “My compliments go to the Jacksonville Premier Team for putting together a great Sunday. The tailgate party provided us with a lot of exposure to a broad base of consumers, trade and Premier Beverage personnel,” said Smitherman. “The kiosk inside the stadium had great signage and had Partida flowing. We set-up camp right next to the bar and were able to film at least 20 Tequila Confessions. The attention was amazing! We had quite a crowd for the entire game.”

Partida Tequila Now Available Duty-Free!

Turning the U.K. on to Premium Tequila



“The Worldwide Cocktail Club has recently conducted training sessions in key U.K. cities with more than 24 top bartenders turning out to enjoy the in-depth trainings on tequila history and a comparative Partida tasting. Sessions also included serving suggestions ranging from Sangrita to the Cloud 9 Margarita, followed by questions and answers over lunch. The Worldwide Cocktail Club sessions were held at Opal Lounge in Edinburgh on September 27th, Restaurant Bar and Grill in Leeds on October 23rd and Below Zero in London on October 30th.

We had some great trade coverage in On Trade Scotland, which arose after the Worldwide Cocktail Club training at Opal Lounge in Edinburgh.

Additional sessions were also held on Tuesday, November 20th at 235 in Manchester and a pre-Christmas drinks reception on Wednesday, November 28th.”

Holiday Season Calls for Holiday Drinks

"The season is changing in Chicago; the leaves are falling all over the city, the days are getting shorter, the temperature is dropping, holiday decorations are being displayed, families are gathering, and cocktails are shifting into seasonally warm delightful creations. I particularly like this time of year because drinks take on a whole new dimension.

Instead of cool and refreshing, people are now seeking warm and tasty libations. These cocktails include seasonal ingredients such as apple cider, cinnamon, cocoa, candy cane, graham cracker, pumpkin, nutmeg, and eggnog. Usually, these drinks are served warm or served with seasonal ingredients that are sweet and strong. I look forward to making many more seasonal cocktails throughout the holiday season.”

Partida Tequila is Now Available
in a Sample Size


Partida Tequila launched the 50 ml of the super-premium tequilas nationwide in October with suggested retail prices of $8.99 (Blanco), $9.99 (Reposado) and $11.99 (Añejo). The sample size was initially released in California, Texas, Arizona and Florida in July. “We feel the 50 ml size provides a great way to initiate trial,” said Mike Jaeger.
